Introduction

The Shared Menus Enhancer adds Shared Menus to applications which itself do not have Shared Menus capability. Currently, this module adds Shared Menus compatibility to Safari, Mail, FireFox, Camino, iCab 4, SeaMonkey, Shiira, Mozilla and Netscape. Optionally, you can add applications to this list.

URL Manager Pro, the professional bookmark manager, adds Shared Menus to the menubar of your preferred browser. This enables you to have easy access to your URL Manager Pro bookmarks from the menubar of your browser.

Web Confidential, the professional password manager, adds the Key Lock Menu to the menubar of your preferred browser. This enables you to have easy access to your passwords from the menubar of your browser.

Shared Menus Enhancer is based on Application Enhancer (APE) from Unsanity. Unfortunately, APE does not work on Leopard yet.

Install

To install, double-click the Shared Menus Enhancer Installer. After installation, you will find the module 'SharedMenus.ape' in the Library/Application Enhancers folder in your home directory.

Deinstall

To deinstall the Shared Menus Enhancer module only, double-click the "Shared Menus Enhancer Installer" icon and click on the "Uninstall" button.

To deinstall all of APE, proceed as follows:

  • Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu
  • Choose the APE Manager Pref Pane
  • In the APE Manager Pref Pane, click the Information tab
  • In the Information tab, click the Uninstall button

FAQ

On Jaguar, the Shared Menus Enhancer module also modifies Safari's Add Bookmark command and replaces it with the Add Bookmark to URL Manager Pro command. This was done to fix an interference of Safari's Add Bookmark command with the Shared Menus.

To add bookmarks to Safari, use the Show All Bookmarks menu command from the Bookmarks menu and drag the Internet location (web site) icon to Safari's bookmark list.

On Tiger and Panther, SME leaves the Add Bookmark command of Safari untouched.

Modify

If you want, you can add applications to this list by editing the Info.plist file of the SharedMenus.ape module. Add the applications to the array of the APEMatchInfo key.

Requirements

You need URL Manager Pro 3.2 or higher and Mac OS X 10.2 or higher.
